Share
Welcome to our Coffee Spotlight where we highlight one of our coffees from our extensive single origin collection. As we endeavor to bring a new and exciting specialty coffee experience to Nosara week in and week out, we want to make sure everyone is aware of the caliber of coffees Bocanegra Coffee Roasters provides to us on a consistent basis. This time...a fruity and floral Geisha from Tarrazu!
Awhile back Bocanegra released its 4th edition of Underdog - an annual release where Bocanegra searches far and wide to identify an award-winning caliber coffee from a producer in Costa Rica who either overcomes adversity or rises to the occasion to come out on top with a world-class coffee. This year, Bocanegra selected a phenomenal Geisha from Martin Padilla at Finca Pachamama in the world-renowned coffee region of Tarrazu for its Underdog edition.
We are in love with this Geisha release not only for our own enjoyment but it allows us to offer something super special and unique to our customers. Like many geishas, this release expresses delicate fruit and definitive floral notes in part due to its 1,800-meter altitude in the Tarrazu region. Flavor notes include clementine, date and strawberry providing for a sensation that is elegantly acidic. The coffee has a medium body with a silky texture. It's really outstanding.
Underdog has been on our pour over list since we first received it and it has been a real crowd pleaser among all types of coffee drinkers. We continue to offer on pour over in our North Guiones coffee shop. It is also available for purchase in Guiones as well as at our new pop-up in Pelada inside of La Bodega / El Chivo. Underdog comes in an exquisite limited edition box designed by Pupila, a premier design agency in Costa Rica, specifically for this coffee. Each week we receive freshly-roasted coffee beans including Underdog as well as many of our other single origin varieties that we serve on a regular basis.
If you're in Nosara in the near future, make sure to drop by and check it out as Martin Padilla has created something really special, one to remember.
Pura vida!
